I pride myself on generally being optimistic. Then there’s the overthinking side of me.

It wasn’t until I saw an article about “doom scrolling” that I realized that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. I have become addicted to the news. In my defense, these are difficult times to look away from. Even as I write this, my fingers are itching to tap into the news. At least I know I’m not alone.

That’s why I love making this art. I don’t have to overthink. It’s so intuitive that I couldn’t really tell what was going through my mind as I created this. Just an absolute need to make art. I know I think about the colors a lot. Other than that…nothing. The messiness of the painting reflects the chaotic times we are dealing with.

I have often said that artists make art that reflects the times. Modern art expresses the modern times. Like I said. Messy.
